5 Steps to Simplifying Your Hiring Process

5 Steps to Simplifying Your Hiring Process Saying spending hours on hours finding the right person for the right job can be a long and tedious process is an understatement. Dealing with thousands of applications and hundreds of candidates on a weekly basis can make your job difficult to cope with. So just like many other recruiters out there, you try to simplify things in order to deal with everything. You need a routine in place, and practices and tools at the ready so you can  improve your hiring process. 1. Sell the role To start, dont just list the basic necessities  a candidate needs when posting job ads, such as interests, education, and experience. Be sure to include information on the job to ensure you are getting the right candidates for the right roles. Mention the day-to-day activities of the job role, the team the candidate will be working with and possibly the type of projects people have worked on in the past. Be very detailed. Furthermore, emphasize the growth and development the candidate will enjoy the company. Candidates want to know they can improve themselves with the company. While you expect potential candidates to sell themselves, and their capabilities, for the role. You also need to sell the role to potential candidates, so that you are ensuring a higher quality of applications and more importantly, applications that are specific to the role so that you dont waste time later on making sure the applicants actually have the capabilities to undertake the role on offer. 2. Build a talent pool Build your own database of quality and qualified candidates. Use this to help you fill current and future roles you have available. By doing so you are reducing your time-to-hire when any roles open up. Its important that within this, you are building relationships and engaging with these candidates so that in the future you can tap into the database you have built up. Nowadays this is easy due to the wide plethora of social communication avenues available to us. By building a talent pool, and talent pipeline, you will see higher offer acceptance rates among candidates because of the relationships you have built with them. You build trust with candidates, and many times this can translate into lower salary costs, lower  dropout rates and, as mentioned before, reduced time to hire. 3. Try video interviews Found a decent candidate? Get them on video asap for a quick interview. Within the first few minutes, you will know if he or she is a good fit for the job. This has become a major staple of the modern pre-screen process, and it in many ways suits both parties. You are assessing the suitability of a candidate quickly in terms of their communication skills, personality and fit for the role, and in turn, the candidates dont have to leave the comfort of their home for an interview. 4. Use smart screen tools The idea of a smart screen ties in well with the previous topic of video interviews because they both emphasize the importance of pre-screening candidates. Smart screening, asking candidates specific and targeted questions, is a great way for recruiters to: Cut down their workload. Assess the suitability of a candidate. Reduce their time to hire. By smart screening candidates, you are distinguishing, to put it bluntly, the good from the bad. There are a multiplicity of smart screening tools out there you can use right now so that when you bring candidates to the face-to-face interview stage you know they are up to scratch, 5. Speed it up Show hiring can be a huge disadvantage to all parties involved. It can cause you to miss out on quality candidates, damage your productivity and ruin your reputation as a recruiter. The average time it takes to a fill a position is 42 days, a figure that used to be 25 days 3 years ago. Because of the ease in which you can now apply to positions, the volume of applications for roles has increased and naturally the time to fill has increased. About a month to fill a position is the right pace, not too long and not too short that youre making hasty decisions. Of course, the time to fill can depend on various factors such as the type of position on offer. Just be prepared. Find out what works for you and learn to simplify the process so that at the end of the day youre making the process easier for yourself, as the life of a recruiter can get crazy.

Move Your Personal Brand Forward Into Success With These Tips - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career Achieving your brands business goals can be a challenge in the beginning of the year. The key is to stay focused and take daily action steps. In order to create long term results there are several things to take a look at both personally and professionally. Here are some tips on how to overcome obstacles and stay on track for years to come:  Evaluate your thinking Ask yourself what limits you have been placing on your business and then take a look at how this has hindered your progress. Several factors could include focusing on the success of others too much, having fear to take risks, and too much procrastination in your tasks. Remove the doubts Accept the fact that nothing is perfect, and there will always be mistakes to be made. Commit to doing whatever it takes to help make your brand a success, and remember that circumstances are only stepping stones to achieving your goals. Get wise counsel Running your company alone can be risky and it helps to have someone who has been there to help lead and guide you. In order to effectively build your business you will need to find a good mentor to learn from and ideally one who can offer some advice along the way. Perform daily assessments Things can get out of hand if you are only taking a look back at your business each month or more. Decide to review your day during the week in order to stay on track with your long term goals. Be sure to include both the negatives and the positives in your notes. A successful personal brand understands the ups and downs of business and perseveres through these. The process of building a solid business may take a few years, but once your roots and habits are firmly in place you will have a much stronger chance for long-term success.

Unleash the Artist Within - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

Unleash the Artist Within - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career “Roberta” had to hold back tears as she heard her best friend, “Carla”, bluntly telling her the whole truth about her artwork. Carla revealed the piece should not be submitted to the gallery for an upcoming art show. Furthermore, Roberta was advised to look at the amount of artwork she has been selling versus the amount of money she has been spending to produce it. Familiar with the situation, Carla advised to consider the bottom line and then rethink the business strategies in place. Whether you are an artist or represent a different type of business, the same suggestions apply. Using the above scenario as an example will provide insight as to how to best approach your business development and improve upon your outcome. Review your bottom line and associated expenses Roberta denied spending any money on the artwork provided to galleries for showing. But that isn’t true. The kind of art she does requires color printing and high quality paper. We all know color toner and specialty paper add up cost quickly as do picture frames required for each piece of work to be displayed. There is also the gas consideration for getting to the art supply stores and galleries, as well as the time involvement. Much upfront expense is at stake. Commitment to continued education is a requirement for improvement One of the biting reasons Roberta was advised to not show her work is because Carla, an artist herself, believes it to not be of quality work. Roberta lacked class instruction that would improve her craft. Drilling down, it’s not just art classes required but also software and photography on which training is required to produce better quality artwork. Roberta is lazy about her business not wanting to put in the effort required to produce a quality piece of work that will sell. At the end of every gallery show to date, Roberta has had to drive once again to pick up her work and bring it home to store in the garage. Reflect on steps that will enhance your success Are you able to relate to any of these scenarios? What do you believe is holding you back? Once you know and acknowledge the answer, you will be able to pursue a corrective course of action. The major two hurdles stopping anyone is the lack of willingness to admit help is needed, and the lack of motivation to try overcome the hurdle(s). A burning desire to find success must be present in all you do. Otherwise, it will not be worth the time, effort and money involved to pursue the continued path of mediocrity. Who do you know that will give you honest advice such as Roberta’s friend? Are you able to withstand the critique? This is the most difficult part for most people. And when you recognize what needs to be done, will you be motivated enough to go out to make the difference? With motivation and the right education, and upon looking back, it will seem as if you were always on the wave of the Smooth Sale! Creative Ideas for Your Corporate Event

Creative Ideas for Your Corporate Event Photo Credit One of the main purposes of a corporate event is that it is memorable. And choosing the right kind of entertainment is one of the best ways that you are going to take it up to the next level. But if your clients have been to corporate event after corporate event, it is likely that they are used to seeing the same things time after time. So, you need to get a little more creative with your event choices, and this is exactly what this article will be helping with. Interactive Food and Drink Stations Rather than your standard sit-down mass-produced meal, you could instead go for some more interactive food and drink stations. The classic choice is a chocolate fountain, but there are plenty of other creative solutions such as a live stir-fry station or a build-your-own-sundae bar. As well as feeding your guests, this type of interactive food and drink also helps to spark off communication between them. Contests and Giveaways Nothing livens up your corporate event more than the opportunity to win a prize. Apart from the standard raffle format, you could also start something more entertaining such as a pub quiz or a caption competition. Caricaturist People love anything which is hand-crafted especially for them, and this is exactly what a caricaturist will provide them with. This type of entertainment has the added advantage of your guests having something to take away with them which will specifically remind them of your event. Breakdancers We have all seen comedians and singers at events, but far fewer have breakdancers there to entertain the guests. Ultimately, you are giving people something that they can’t tear their eyes away from and this has to be a good thing! Projection Art One of the main issues with hiring an artist is that not everyone can see what they are drawing on the canvas. You can get around this issue by opting for projection art so that everyone can see exactly what is going on. Make sure that you have the right AV Production. People love to see creations happening right before their very eyes. Social Photo Booths If the selfie craze of the past few years has taught us anything, it is the fact that people simply can’t get enough of taking their own picture. So, set up a photo booth, provide people with some items which they can dress up with, and watch them go! The modern ‘social booths’ give guests the opportunity to upload their pictures straight onto their social media accounts. If you are going to host a corporate event, you need to ensure that it lives long in the memory. These are just a few of the best ways of achieving this particular feat so that your corporate event has the maximum impact on everyone in attendance.
